When we launched our business, just 3 months ago we were determined to offer more than the average BDSM related business. Of course we wanted to sell lots of items and naturally make a profit but our thinking was very much linked to how we would do this and what we wanted to create. The ambitions away from the purely commercial were:-
To build a BDSM community around the business
To offer a safe place to chat, learn and share experiences
To be able to offer discounted BDSM equipment and literally undercut the large suppliers
To offer some local handmade BDSM equipment so we could support others who wanted to utilise their skills
Initially we had a fairly low tech chatroom on the website but it very quickly became clear that this would simply not meet our needs so we decided to open a Discord channel and see if we could grow a community. 3 months later we have over 220 members on the Discord server, host regular tutorial and Q and A sessions where we and some of the people we have met on the channel share their expertese and experience and beyond these specifics we have a thriving chat community where you can find a friendly welcome at just about anytime.
We launched with our Thursday night social chats which still run every Thursday at 9pm but the reality is the channel is busy enough now that every night is a bit of a social event.
In reality the growth and quality of the Discord server has surpassed our expectations and we now spend a lot of time and energy both developing the channels and inviting more and more people to join us.
